Intellectual Property as it Applies to Chemistry
A series of 10 workshops held across Europe highlighting the value and importance of exploiting intellectual property, with particular reference to the field of chemistry. Organized by the European Patent Office, the workshops will take place in Malta, Greece, Hungary, Belgium, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland.
The workshops will cover the following:
- Specific aspects of patent protection of inventions
- Practical information on the use of patents as a source of scientific knowledge
- Identification of key steps in the management of intellectual property
- Presentation of success stories of spin-off companies
The next workshop in the series will take place on June 15 in Villigen PSI, Switzerland. Representatives of the Paul Scherrer Institute and a patent attorney will present the perspectives of national aspects of dealing with intellectual property. Case studies of successful exploitation of IP assets, involving a PSI spin-off company, will be presented in order to encourage research and innovation.
