Science on Tap

Mar 14, 2011
National Mechanics, 22 S. Third Street Philadelphia, PA 19106

Science on Tap is a monthly gathering that features a brief, informal presentation by a scientist or other expert followed by lively conversation.

This month, Christine Bartos, curator of ungulates and small mammals at the Philadelphia Zoo, will talk about some of the physical adaptations of giraffes.

As the tallest mammals on earth, giraffes have certain advantages, such as reaching food that other species can't. So, how did giraffes reach such lofty heights? Find out how giraffes are moved, how to keep them healthy, and what their personalities are really like.

Presented by the American Philosophical Society (APS) Museum.

Open to the public (age 21+ or accompanied by chaperone 25 years or older).
