Exhibit at the University of Minnesota Science & Engineering library celebrating important discoveries and inventions by students, alumni, and faculty from the UMN Chemistry department.
Chemistry: A Tradition of Excellence will be on display at the University of Minnesota's Science and Engineering Library from February 25, 2011 - August 26, 2011. This exhibit showcases the importance of chemistry on our campus and to society at large.
The Department of Chemistry's roots date back to the 1860s when the University of Minnesota was in its early years. Chemistry was then, and continues to be today, a central science that is a foundation for many other disciplines. It is critcal for solving society's most important problems. This exhibit features prominent alumni and former faculty including the inventor of synthetic rubber, a pioneer of photography processes at Kodak, the discoverer of polylactide, and two Nobel Prize winners as well as showcasing the ongoing work of current faculty and students.
