The Discussion Meet would cover the role of different advanced mass spectrometric techniques like accelerator based mass spectrometry (AMS) for high sensitivity determination of very small isotope ratios and also applications of ICP-MS, SIMS, GDMS, SIRMS, TIMS etc. for human health like Osteoporosis, IDA etc.
The mass spectrometric techniques have a great potential for biomedical applications. The speciation of different elements is very important from the point of viw of their usefulness or toxicity. The present Discussion Meet would discuss the role of elemental mass spectrometry techniques for determining isotope ratios and concentrations of different elements in biological, environmental and agricultural samples. Also isotope hydrology to identify the new sources of underground water would be discussed. The usefulness of Biomedical Mass Spectrometry using Accelerator based mass spectrometry is very useful to determine small amounts of stable enriched isotopes given to inafnts and pregnant ladies for iron defucincy anemia and to eledery persons for Osteporosis etc. Also the effectiveness of Cancer based drugs like Pt compounds in different types of compounds can be investigated by different mass spectrometric techniques.
This ISMAS International Discussion Meet is organized by Indian Society for Mass Spectrometry (ISMAS), Mumbai (www.ismas.org) and & Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC), Delhi (www.iuac.ernet.in)Want to submit your own activity or comment?
