Creating Awareness About the Need to Celebrate Chemistry

RESEARCH STUDENTS MEET UP BUDDING MINDS AND INTERACT. WE TRY TO CREATE AWARENESS ABOUT IYC-2011 AND ITS NECESSITY.
Chemistry Department - NITK SURATHKAL, one of the leading technical and science education institute of India, celebrates IYC-2011. Professors, research scholars and post graduate students comprise the team.
To begin with we visit local UG colleges and secondary schools from 11/01/2011 to 26/01/2011, giving seminars and interacting with young people.
We intend to involve 1500 UG and secondary students.
In next phase, we are organizing chemistry related competetions for ug and pg college students. We intend to test their chemistry skills and encourage them to be chemists in future. We plan to involve more than 250 students. Scheduled on 19/02/2011.
Next part would be open labs for school children, giving demo of popular chemistry experiments. Date is yet to be finalized.
Also plans are to have a public awareness campaign.
